چکیده

The gastrointestinal tract of the human and other mammals is populated by a vast and diverse group of microbes in a composite manner (Frank and Pace, 2008; Ito, 2005). Bacteria are the major population of the alimentary tract and this native microflora is commonly designated the gut microflora (Ito, 2005). Microbial flora present in the microenvironment of the gastrointestinal tract performs several important and essential activities of the host (Straw, 1989) such as the breakdown of undigested food, metabolism of drugs, enhanced absorption of foodstuffs, synthesis of vitamins, creation of resistance against pathogenic bacteria by colonization resistance, stimulation of host ISSN: 2319-7706 Volume 3 Number 8 (2014) pp. 282-291 http://www.ijcmas.com

Hypobaric-hypoxia induces alteration in microbes and microbes-associated enzyme profile in rat colonic samples.

Present study deals with the straight impact of hypobaric hypoxia on the quantity and composition of some predominant fecal microflora and its functional aspects. For that, isolated fecal contents of rat were exposed to two different simulated air pressures (70 kPa and 40 kPa) for different time durations (1, 3, and 5 h) and the bacterial community composition was compared with normobaric group...

Effects of Lactobacillus-Based Probiotic on Performance, Gut Microflora, Hematology and Intestinal Morphology in Young Broiler Chickens Challenged with Salmonella Typhimurium

This experiment was conducted to compare the effects of multi-strain probiotic inclusion levels on performance, intestinal morphology, gut microflora and hematological changes in Salmonella typhimurium (ST) infected broiler chickens. A total of 120 day old Ross 308 broiler chickens were distributed into 20 floor pens and reared for 10 days under 5 experimental treatments including a corn-soy ba...

Probiotics and Atopic Dermatitis in Children

There is increasing interest in the potential beneficial role of probiotic supplementation in the prevention and treatment of atopic diseases in children. Probiotics are defined as ingested live microorganisms that, when administered in an adequate amount, confer a health benefit to the host. They are mainly represented by Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria. Several epidemiological data demonstrat...
